Terms of use

The short version: be 18+ (or older where the law says so), be real, be decent. The longer version follows, and it is the one that counts.
These terms are an agreement between you and Fieldfare OÜ ("Sipmate", "we", "us") about your use of the Sipmate app and this website. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use Sipmate.
1. Who can use Sipmate
You must be at least 18 years old, and at least the legal drinking age where you live if that is higher — 21 in the United States, 20 in Japan and South Korea. You must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and you must not be barred from using the service under the laws that apply to you. One account per person; accounts are personal and not transferable.
Giving a false date of birth is a breach of these terms. We remove accounts that misstate age, and we may ask for reassurance about age before restoring one.
2. What Sipmate is — and isn't
Sipmate introduces adults who are near each other and up for company tonight. It is a platonic, social service: a way to find someone to have a drink with, not a dating or hookup app, not an escort or companionship-for-payment service, and not a place to sell anything.
Sipmate is not a bar, a venue, an event organiser, an alcohol retailer or a delivery service. We do not sell, serve or supply alcohol, and we do not run the places you choose to meet in.
3. Your account
- Use your real first name (or the name people actually call you) and recent photos of yourself.
- Keep access to your sign-in email address; that is how you get back in.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account and everything you post or send.
- Tell us at support@fieldfare.cc if you think someone else has got into it.
4. How to behave
Our community guidelines are part of these terms. In short: be real, meet in public, take no for an answer, drink how you like. On top of that, you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone;
- post or send anything hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or involving a minor in any sexual way — see our child safety standards;
- impersonate anyone, use someone else's photos, or run a bot, brand or fake account;
- solicit money, sell goods or services, promote a business, or recruit for anything;
- offer, request or arrange anything illegal, including supplying alcohol to anyone under age or any transaction involving drugs;
- share other people's private information, or anything from a Sipmate chat, outside the app without their agreement;
- encourage anyone to drink more than they want to, or make a game out of quantity;
- scrape, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the service, or try to reach data that is not yours.
5. Other people are other people
We do not run background checks, identity verification or criminal-record screening on anyone. We cannot confirm that someone is who they say they are, and we make no promise about the conduct, age, intentions or safety of any user. Use your judgement, the same way you would meeting anyone new.
6. Meeting people is at your own risk
Anything that happens when you meet someone is between you and them. Meet in a public place with other people around. Tell a friend where you are going. Arrange your own way home. Never share your home address to set up a first drink. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services first — we are not an emergency service and cannot intervene in real time.
7. Alcohol
Sipmate is about company, not consumption. There are no drink counts, streaks, leaderboards or rounds in the app, and there never will be. Zero-proof is a full option. Nothing in Sipmate is an encouragement to drink, or to drink more; drinking is your choice and your responsibility, and so is not driving afterwards. If alcohol is a problem for you, please talk to a doctor or a local support service.
8. Your content
Your photos, bio, statuses and messages stay yours. So that we can actually run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, reformat and display that content for the purpose of operating Sipmate, and to show it to the users it is meant for. The licence lasts as long as the content is on Sipmate and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for the short periods described in the privacy policy. We do not use your photos in advertising or marketing.
Only upload content you have the right to upload. You confirm that photos are of you and that you have permission from anyone else who appears in them.
9. Moderation, suspension and ending your account
We may hide, remove or edit content, and suspend or delete an account, when someone breaks these terms or the guidelines, or when we reasonably believe someone is at risk — with notice where we can, without it where safety or the law requires. Three reports within 24 hours hides a profile automatically until a human reviews it.
You can leave whenever you like: Profile → Settings → Delete account, or ask us at support@fieldfare.cc. See deleting your account.
10. Sipmate itself
The app, this site, the name and the logo are ours. These terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the app as intended, and nothing more.
11. No warranty
Sipmate is provided free, "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that you will meet anyone at all. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties.
12. Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your mandatory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, and because Sipmate is provided free of charge, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data or lost opportunities, or for the acts of other users; and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to €100.
13. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Sipmate after that means you accept the new version.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Estonia, and disputes go to the courts of Estonia. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country and may bring a claim there; you can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
